Abstract:

Contains an official certificate of United States citizenship (42 x 28 cm) issued to J.F. Bigelow by the District Court of the First Judicial District of Nevada on February 20, 1882. Signed by the clerk of the court, J.A. Mahoney, with an embossed gold paper seal of the court affixed. On verso are nine registration notes and stamps, signed by various county registrars of voters in Nevada and California, for the years 1882, 1884, 1888, 1891, 1896, 1898, 1900, 1902, and 1904. Seven of these are for San Francisco County. Also includes one clipping about Bigelow's retirement from Wells Fargo Bank (San Francisco Chronicle, May 6, 1906), three obituary clippings of his wife, Emma Priscilla Bigelow (née Rulofson; died February 24, 1926), and two printed visiting cards of Thomas F. Green, circa 1892.

John Fisk Bigelow (1849-1912) was a vice-president of Nevada National Bank for 17 years before it was acquired by Wells Fargo Bank in 1905. He held the same position with Wells Fargo until his retirement in 1906.
